Why not extend the ‘cowboy or girl experience’ to several days, horseback riding across
the pristine Caribbean beaches of the region. Some breathtaking views of the coastline
are to be seen and camping under the starlit Honduran sky is unquestionably a
unique experience.

GARIFUNA ON THE BEACH: 4 DAYS

Spend 4 days on empty caribbean beaches, enjoying beach life at its best,
Garifuna culture.

Day 1: we leave in the morning via Tocoa to Bonito Oriental.
There are heaps of men in boots and jeans, a cowboy hat on their head,
riding horses- and the last “real” restaurant. Then we go off road, a beautiful
ride to the caribbean beach. From here on the road is always really close to the beach.
We come through the last authentic Garifuna villages. We stop in one of them:
Ciriboya with a very basic hotel. That’s the time for a good swim in the Caribbean.
For dinner we definitely gonna have a real Garifuna dish. Enjoy your evening under
a coconut tree- very romantic - there is no electricity in the village.

Day 2: After a healthy Garifuna breakfast we continue our ride, depending on the
“treck” conditions - in our Toyota Land Cruiser or in a special rental pick-up truck.
Our travels lead us along empty beaches, all the time we ride along it, often even
in the water. Hopefully we do not have to get of our truck to push it through the loose
sand. Reaching the lagoon of Ibans we are at the entrance to “La Moskitia”: just on the
other side of Palacios. We ride a good piece back and stay at the house of an “stranded”
artist. Another beautiful candle -star night.

Day 3: This is our active day: Horseback riding on empty beaches, fishing and swimming. Enjoy live in a laid back Garifuna style. -there are a few hammocks around anyway… one last night on the beach with only the noise of the waves slamming on the beach and coconut palms screaming in te wind -all under the stars of the northern hemisphere- with a laid down moon.

Day 4: Take a last swim in the Caribbean before we head back to La Ceiba and the OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE. Jump in our freshwater pool and enjoy a excellent lunch in our “champa”. Sorry- end of trip: we give you a ride to La Ceiba or enjoy your free night in our beautiful Jungle Lodge at the Cangrejal River in Pico Bonito National Parc.

What To Bring: boots or tennis, long pants, shorts, bathing suite, light raincoat, torch, insect repellent, sunblock, sunhat or cap, towel. Got a drybag or a really light sleeping bag?: bring it! Try not to bring too much !!!

RIO SICO - RAFTING & MULES IN THE MOSKITIA 6 DAYS RAFTING CLASS II AND III.

Adventurous mule ride, Sandy and muddy 4x4. A all around experience!
Day 1: we leave early in the morning towards Olancho, the “wild east” of Honduras:
there are heaps of men in boots and jeans,a Cowboy hat on their head, riding their
horse. Our ride takes approx.4 hrs. Coming to La Balsa bridge we pump the raft up and
strap the gear into it. 2 hrs. of rafting and we set up camp for the first time:
collecting firewood, cooking on open fire, taking a shower in the river.

Day 2 and 3: Whitewaterrafting all day long… long flat parts that give us time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and good class II and III rapids. Around 4 p.m. we look out for a sand bank to spend the night. Excellent camp spots.

Day 4: After a hearty breakfast it is still ½ a day of rafting to get to a village of 4 huts with
a giant dugout canoe. We stay with the family at nightand enjoy a real Miskito dinner:
Rice, beans and tortillas. It is a different live in Miskito villages.

Day 5: After a real Miskito breakfast our mules wait for us already. It is a long day on the animals, crossing a mountain range to get to empty caribbean beaches, riding the mules
along it at sunset. The garifuna village of Punta De Piedra will give us shelter for the night.

Day 6: Early morning we jump on a 4x4. What follows is off road of its best: first we ride
along the beach, then turning inlands. Often we hafe to jump off the trucks, push and pull.
Depending on the weather conditions it takes us 4 to 7 hrs. Reaching Las Jicoteas (the turtles)
we swap into a OMEGA adventure vehicle that brings us back to La Ceiba, where this trip
ends. Or enjoy your free night in our JUNGLE LODGE on the Cangrejal river in
Pico Bonito National Park.

Please bring: shorts, T-shirt, river sandals or tennis, sun cream, insect repellent, long
trousers, rain jacket, personal medication, torch, towel Got your own: sleeping-bag
or-blanket, sleeping matraz, tent, waterbottle? -Bring it! -You do not have it?
No problem, we provide it.
