EASY ADVENTURE

These short trips (lasting approx 3-4 nights) are for those
who aren't real 'danger' seekers but still wish to explore 'wild'
rainforest and native settlements in a distinctive and
remote region.

We utilize the Bush Hopper plane service and authentic or motorized
dugout canoes to enjoy nature and the awe-inspiring beauty of
La Mosquitia.

For thousands of years the local inhabitants have led very
traditional lives and these trips offer our guests the chance to
witness this first-hand; there is occasionally the choice
to camp but mostly the lodging is with families or in
local 'hospedajes'.

COST AND LAGOONS 3 DAYS

Bush hopper planes and dugout canoes. Lagoons & empty
caribbean beach. A short trip to La Moskitia.

Day 1: Early morning we take a bush hopper plane to Palacios.
A tuc-tuc brings us to Raista, on a sand bank between
Ibans Lagoon and caribbean sea.

We stay at Dona Cecilias guesthouse, very primitive -just like
all Miskito "hotels"- and really friendly. In the afternoon we find
time to take a walk along the empty beach, watch the fishermen
and go for a swim

Day 2: After breakfast we jump in a Pipante (motorized dugout canoe).
Crossing Ibans Lagoon, a beautiful mangrove channel that leads
to the Platano river. On the other side of Rio Platano there is
another extraordinary channel system connecting to Brus Lagoon.

Crossing it all we arrive in the old pirates village of Brus Lagoon.
It has still its charme out of these days!
Another night in a very simple "hospedaje".

Day 3: After breakfast we find time to do a walk "around town".
Depending on the flight schedule we leave
between 8 and 11 a.m., back to La Ceiba.

What To Bring: boots or tennis, for raft & kayak also river sandals, long
pants, shorts, fleece or sweater for the night, light raincoat, torch,
insect repellent, sunblock, sunhat or cap, towel, personal medication.
Got a water bottle, drybag, matress or a light sleeping bag?: bring it!

PETOGLYPHS ON THE RIO PLATANO 4 DAYS

the famous Las Marias petroglyph trip -in only 4 days
we recommend doing the same tour in 5 days,
not to be too much in a rush
- check it in this same program!

Day 1: 8:00 a.m. we leave La Ceiba in a bushhopper plane.
Arriving in Palacios we take a pipante (motorized canoe)
through Mangrove channels, the Lagoon of Ibans, through
another really tiny channel into the Rio Platano. Following the
stream upriver we reach Las Marias, a Miskito village, right
by the river.

The boattrip is beautiful but really long, enjoy
the beautiful scenery and see how people are living out
here in the wilderness. In Las Marias we stay in a very
simple "hospedaje', we will eat real Miskito food, prepared by a
local family. There are no restaurants anyway!

Day 2: local guides will paddle us upriver till we reach the
petroglyph site. The petroglyphs are supposively
3000 to 5000 years old and considered to be showing
the way to the white city.

The petroglyphs are a world monument, protected
by the UNO. Today we gonna see a lot of wildlife,
the night we spend in Las Marias again.

Day 3: After breakfast we take our Pipante back to the
Lagoon of Ibans to Raista. This little village is on a only
100 meters wide sandstrip between sweetwater lagoon
and the Caribbean.

We take a tour through the butterfly farm and learn
more about butterflies. If we are lucky we can even
see one hatch. Tonight we sleep in our tents or in the
guesthouse of the local family. The same family
prepares dinner for us.

Day 4: through lagoon and a labyrinth of mangrove
channels we come to Palacios airport in the early morning.
The propeller plane brings us back to La Ceiba. Shuttle
to your hotel and end of the trip. Or enjoy your free
night in our beautiful JUNGLE LODGE on the
Cangrejal river in Pico Bonito National Parc.

empty beach, the Lagoon on one, the Caribbean on
the other side. The landstrip is just 100 meters wide.

We come through Garifuna villages, probably we see
seaturtles in Plaplaya protection area, a project
made by local garifunas. Same night as day 1.

Day 5: through lagoon and a labyrint of Mangrove
channels we come to Palacios airport early in the morning.
The propeller plane brings us back to La Ceiba.

Shuttle to your hotel and end of the trip. Or enjoy your
free night in our beautiful Jungle Lodge on the Cangrejal
river in Pico Bonito National Parc.

WAMPUSIRPI 3 DAYS

Rio Patuca
Tawahka area, the Heart of the Moskitia

Day 1: Early morning we leave La Ceiba airport to Ahuas
or Puerto Lempira. Then we take Sammys "Bushhopper"
plane to Wampusirpi - a beautiful and exciting flight just on
top of rainforest trees.

This afternoon we hike around Wampusirpi, we will see
Maya artifacts, found by local farmers. The area was
intensely inhabited, back to 5000 years. The night we
spend in Dona Irmas Guesthouse.

Day 2: After breakfast we leave in a Pipante
(motorized dug-out canoe) river down to Ahuas, one of the
bigger Miskito communities in the Moskitia, a place of exchange
and Miskito life. On the way we stop at times to meet Miskito
people, settling on the river shore. Another night in
a very simple Moskitia- hotel.

Day 3: In the morning we explore the surrounding of Ahuas,
see how natives are living. Our plane leaves around noon,
early afternoon we are back in La Ceiba. Shuttle to your hotel
and end of trip.
