atfirst-hand the outstanding beauty of the largest area of primary
rainforest in Central America.

RIO PATUCA

Miskito life 5 days Down the Patuca river, From Tawahka
into Miskito area, and down to the coast. - in and out in a
bush hopper plane, great journey in a “pipante”.

Day 1: Early morning we leave La Ceiba airport to Ahuas
or Puerto Lempira. Then we take Sammys “Bushhopper”
plane to Wampusirpi - a beautiful and exciting flight just
on top of rainforest trees. This afternoon we hike around
Wampusirpi, we will see Maya artifacts, found by local
farmers. The area was intensely inhabited, back to
5000 years. The night we spend in Dona Irmas Guesthouse.

Day 2: After breakfast we leave in a Pipante (motorized
dug-out canoe) river down to Ahuas, one of the bigger Miskito
communities in the Moskitia, a place of exchange and Miskito life.
On the way we stop at times to meet Miskito people, settling
on the river shore. Another night in a very simple Moskitia- hotel.

Day 3: Today we will boat all the way down to the Caribbean.
Barra Patuca, the village on rivermouth and beach is beautiful.
There is time to bath and explore the surrounding of Barra Patuca.
Another basic night, just by the beach. At night we do a paddle tour,
our torches in hands, to find alligators.

Day 4: Our journey goes on… still in a dugout canoe through
swamp, channels, mangroves into the Lagoon of Brus.
A beautiful day. The village Brus Laguna is where we stay
overnight- guess- in a very basic guesthouse.

Day 5: Our plane leaves 10:30 a.m. Early afternoon we are
back in La Ceiba. Shuttle to your hotel and end of trip.

PETOGLYPHS ON THE RIO PLATANO 4 DAYS

the famous Las Marias petroglyph trip -in only 4 days we
recommend doing the same tour in 5 days, not to be too
much in a rush - check it in this same program!

Day 1: 8:00 a.m. we leave La Ceiba in a bushhopper plane.
Arriving in Palacios we take a pipante (motorized canoe)
through Mangrove channels, the Lagoon of Ibans, through
another really tiny channel into the Rio Platano.

Following the stream upriver we reach Las Marias, a Miskito
village, right by the river. The boattrip is beautiful but really long,
enjoy the beautiful scenery and see how people are living
out here in the wilderness. In Las Marias we stay in a very simple
“hospedaje’, we will eat real Miskito food, prepared by a local family.
There are no restaurants anyway!

Day 2: local guides will paddle us upriver till we reach the petroglyph
site. The petroglyphs are supposively 3000 to 5000 years old and
considered to be showing the way to the white city. The petroglyphs
are a world monument, protected by the UNO. Today we gonna
see a lot of wildlife, the night we spend in Las Marias again.

Day 3: After breakfast we take our Pipante back to the Lagoon
of Ibans to Raista. This little village is on a only 100 meters
wide sandstrip between sweetwater lagoon and the Caribbean.
We take a tour through the butterfly farm and learn more
about butterflies. If we are lucky we can even see one hatch.
Tonight we sleep in our tents or in the guesthouse of the local
family. The same family prepares dinner for us.

Day 4: through lagoon and a labyrinth of mangrove channels we come
to Palacios airport in the early morning. The propeller plane
brings us back to La Ceiba. Shuttle to your hotel and end of the trip.

RIO SICO - RAFTING & MULES IN THE MOSKITIA 6 DAYS

Rafting class II and III. Adventurous mule ride, Sandy and
muddy 4x4. A all around experience!

Day 1: we leave early in the morning towards Olancho,
the “wild east” of Honduras: there are heaps of men in
boots and jeans,a Cowboy hat on their head, riding their horse.
Our ride takes approx.4 hrs. Coming to La Balsa bridge we
pump the raft up and strap the gear into it. 2 hrs. of rafting
and we set up camp for the first time: collecting firewood,
cooking on open fire, taking a shower in the river.

Day 2 and 3: Whitewaterrafting all day long… long flat parts that
give us time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and good class II
and III rapids. Around 4 p.m. we look out for a sand bank to
spend the night. Excellent camp spots.

Day 4: After a hearty breakfast it is still ½ a day of rafting to get
to a village of 4 huts with a giant dugout canoe. We stay with the
family at nightand enjoy a real Miskito dinner: Rice, beans and
tortillas. It is a different live in Miskito villages.

Day 5: After a real Miskito breakfast our mules wait for us already.
It is a long day on the animals, crossing a mountain range to get to
empty caribbean beaches, riding the mules along it at sunset.
The garifuna village of Punta De Piedra will give us shelter for the night.

Day 6: Early morning we jump on a 4x4. What follows is off road
of its best: first we ride along the beach, then turning inlands.
Often we hafe to jump off the trucks, push and pull. Depending
on the weather conditions it takes us 4 to 7 hrs. Reaching
Las Jicoteas (the turtles) we swap into a OMEGA adventure
vehicle that brings us back to La Ceiba, where this trip ends.
