THE BEACH

Sun, sea and white Caribbean sand - what more could beach-lovers ask for?
The choice of horseback riding, kayaking or canoeing the Lagoons allows our guests
to take in the beauty of the Honduran coastline whilst participating in a
unique, exciting, OMEGA TOURS activity.

BEACH RIDING

OUR AMAZING horseback riding trip features deserted beaches and traditional farmland.
Trained by real “cowboys”, the horses you ride are excellent!!

For beginners and advanced riders! Starting at the OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE
or in La Ceiba we drive 10 min. west. We leave the paved road
behind and follow a dirt road until we reach a horse and
cattle farm with heaps of horses (ranging from timid for
beginners to lively for those more advanced riders)
and of course real cowboys and our resident Honduran
‘Horse Whisperer’.

From here it is just a short ride to the
beach. Our local guide “El Chino” is the best horseback rider
in the area! Gallop along the empty beach - or take it easy and
enjoy nature on the back of your horse, majestic Pico Bonito is always on our left.

Just at its river mouth we cross the Rio Bonito, there are a few fishermen
and gauchos, and the nature around us is awe-inspiring. We have a fruity
picnic right at the beach - don’t forget your bathing suite! The ride back
is through savanna, fantastic for galloping!

The beach is always close so you can guide your horse wherever you want!
The car ride back to La Ceiba takes about 15 min., to the OMEGA LODGE
through beautiful scenery an additional 20 min.

Refresh in our pool and enjoy your free! Jungle Night in our beautiful LODGE.

CACAO LAGOON

EXCEPTIONAL kayaking or dugout canoeing through the Cacao Lagoon mangroves,
relaxing on a secluded Caribbean beach, and passing through a Garifuna village.
Spend a whole day out, enjoying wild mangroves and isolated beaches.

Starting at the OMEGA LODGE we shuttle you to Cacao Lagoon village,
where we meet Garifuna people, living an authentic, traditional life.
We jump in our kayaks, paddle through the mangroves,
always along the shore so we can see the wildlife.

Reaching the beachside of Cacao Lagoon we paddle into the Caribbean
and try our kayaks in the waves. The beach is picturesque,
serene and deserted. After a fruity beach picnic, we paddle back.
We get picked up by our Jeep and brought back to La Ceiba or the
OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE.

Please bring: Shorts, T-shirt, light shoes, sun cream, sun hat, insect repellent

CUERO Y SALADO

AN AWESOME wildlife refuge: bird watching and mangrove lagoon,
“burra” and boat ride, secluded tranquil beaches.

Starting from the OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE we drive to La Union,
20 km outside La Ceiba. Here we change our vehicle, to a
“burra”- a small, open-air railway cart. The ride takes
approx. 45 min. and goes through a coconut area, an
excellent place for bird watching. Bring your camera!

Reaching the Lagoon we hire a boat. A FUCSA -guide
(Fundacion Cuero Y Salado) takes us through the mangrove lagoon.

We can see all kinds of animals: birds, monkeys, ant eaters,
pizotes …, probably even a Manatee. After our boat trip we walk
to the beach (10 min.) to enjoy our fruity picnic and a swim in
the Caribbean.

We take our burra back to La Union and shuttle
you back to La Ceiba or enjoy your free jungle night in our LODGE.

Please bring: sun cream, insect repellent, sun hat. You do not need
special shoes! Got a camera and binoculars? Bring them!

Time: 6 - 7 hrs.
